One of the Lasseter family’s Christmas traditions is watching the old black and white film, It’s a Wonderful Life. A famous line in the film reads, “One man’s life touches so many others. When he’s not there it leaves an awfully big hole.” If the absence of an ordinary human life would leave an “awfully big hole,” just try to imagine what the absence of the life of Jesus Christ would be like. His absence from our lives would not only be sad, it would be tragic, as the Lasseter family soon discovers. This musical drama causes us to consider how rich we are because Christ has come! An accompaniment CD, a demonstration CD, and orchestrations are also available. The script has eighteen speaking parts and was written by Ken Collier; the music was written and arranged by Faye López, Mac Lynch and Brigette Smisor Shevy. Script and stage directions are included in the book. In addition, a few of the songs are available as a cappella arrangements in the Christmas Card book. The Wilds has also produced a companion DVD which is designed to look like a homemade video and can be shown in place of a live staging of the grandfather’s farewell monologue. In this final touching scene, their grandfather, knowing that he will be in his heavenly home before their special Christmas celebration, leaves his family with a taped heartfelt challenge. Songlist:
